Spider Control Services in North Alabama

Professional Spider Control for Safe, Comfortable Homes

While most spiders do not cause damage to homes, their presence can be unsettling—and in some cases, dangerous. Many spiders are harmless and non-aggressive, but a small number of species found in Alabama are venomous and capable of causing serious medical issues if bitten.

At ATEC Pest Control, we provide professional spider control services to help reduce spider populations, eliminate nesting areas, and protect your home from both venomous and non-venomous species.

Venomous Spiders in Alabama

Brown Recluse Spider

Brown Recluse spiders are among the most concerning spiders in North Alabama. A bite may result in anything from little to no reaction to a painful, open wound that can take weeks to heal and may become infected. If you suspect a Brown Recluse bite, seek medical attention immediately.

Brown Recluses are typically light to dark brown, have six eyes, long thin legs, a velvety appearance, and a distinct violin-shaped marking on their back. True to their name, they are reclusive and prefer dark, undisturbed areas such as closets, crawl spaces, garages, trash cans, tires, and under porches.

Black Widow Spider

Black Widows are easily recognized by their shiny black body and red hourglass marking on the underside of the abdomen. While their bites are rarely fatal in healthy adults, they can cause severe pain, muscle cramping, nausea, and breathing difficulty, and may be more dangerous for children or the elderly.

Black Widows are shy and typically bite only in defense. They are commonly found in crawl spaces, garages, basements, closets, and woodpiles, where they build large, irregular webs and deposit egg sacs.

Non-Venomous Spiders

Most spiders found in Alabama are non-venomous and pose little risk to humans. Bites from these spiders often resemble a mosquito-like red welt, though individuals with venom sensitivities may experience stronger reactions. Common non-venomous spiders in Alabama include wolf spiders, jumping spiders, and tarantulas, among nearly 900 spider species statewide.

Professional Spider Prevention & Treatment

Our spider control services focus on reducing spider activity by targeting hiding areas, entry points, and food sources—helping keep spiders from returning. Treatments are customized based on your home and the type of spider activity present.

ATEC Pest Control takes pride in protecting homes throughout North Alabama. When you choose us for spider control, you can trust the job will be done right the first time and maintained with professional care.
